Services
The main component of our services is the engineering of foundations, construction pits and ground constructions. Focus point is the ability to realise these designs in practice, with acceptable and controllable risks and in the most economic way.
VWS Geotechniek participates within VolkerWessels in multidisciplinary project teams, where our consultants represent the geotechnical discipline. We perform these activities in the tender phase as well as in the construction phase for large infrastructural, coastal and marine projects, but also for urban building projects.
Environment, building space limitations and soil conditions have a large influence on possible construction methods and techniques. Through our involvement in projects during the construction phase we keep in close contact to today's building practice. Because of this involvement we are capable of performing detailed engineering, such as ground anchor calculations, slurry trench stability calculations and pile driving analyses (see our overview of engineering activities).
For the engineering of geotechnical structures as mentioned above, we use several nationally and internationally accepted computer applications such as Plaxis (Finite Element method), the complete range of geotechnical programs made by Delft Geosystems, GGU (German manufactured) and WEAP (US manufactured pile driving analysis program). In close collaboration with Delft Geosystems we contribute to the optimisation of software applications and deliver input for the database Geobrain which contains geotechnical experiences from actual works.
In our ongoing search for new and practical (foundation) innovations and state-of-the-art techniques we participate in several studies within VolkerWessels with partners as Deltares (products bio-grout en bio-seal) and in several national technical expert committees. Our participation in the committee COB G104 resulted in a unique method for leak detection through a cooperation with German company Texplor GmbH.
